Device

In the M2M communications world, devices have all kinds of functions and shapes for alerting, measuring, monitoring, testing, tracking, etc. The whole M2M solution starts with the event-capturing device. Its importance, therefore, cannot be overlooked. Numerex designs, develops and distributes a wide range of such “sensing technology”, i.e., network access modules, which provide the interface between the customer’s application and the Numerex network. Numerex supplies three types of modules:

  • Generic product offerings for VAR application development;
  • Fully-configured modules for OEM integration; or
  • Components of Numerex’s end-to-end solutions.

Examples of the various Numerex communicators and modules include:

  • Commercial and residential security: (full data) Uplink 2550, Uplink AnyNET (VAR version); (full data capture for AnyNET) FD 1000, Stealth GSM 1650 and GE Security NX-591 E
  • Mobile applications: the satellite-based SX1 tracker and the ADM 3500 product family

In addition, we provide:

  • Wireless modems that support CDMA/1xRTT, GSM/GPRS, and satellite technologies;
  • A wide selection of antennas and cables for M2M-specific use.

Q. What is the difference between a modem and a module?

A. A modem is external equipment whereas a module can be integrated within equipment.
